1. Use of the Term “Maiden Name” – Consideration of a Revised Draft Tentative Report proposing to eliminate the term “maiden name” from the New Jersey statutes (N.J.S. 2c:20-1(v); 11A:4-1.4(g); 26:3A2-20.3; 26:8-24; 26:8-40.1) and replace the term with updated language. Report
2. Title 18A: Special Education – Incorrect References in Statute – Consideration of a Draft Tentative Report proposing modifications to Title 18A: (1) to replace the incorrect reference to N.J.A.C. 6:28-1.1 et seq. with the correct reference to N.J.A.C. 6A:14-1 et seq. in N.J.S. 18A:46-5.1 and N.J.S. 18A: 46-5.2; and (2) to replace the terms "speech correctionist" and “speech correction” with the updated terms "speech-language specialist” and “speech language” in N.J.S. 18A:46-8 and N.J.S. 18A:46-19. Tort Claims Act – Proper Service of Notice of Claim (N.J.S. 59:8-7 and -10) – Consideration of a Memorandum proposing a project to address whether N.J.S. 59:8-7 and -10 would benefit from modification to clarify who must be served when filing a notice of claim with a public entity under the Tort Claims Act in light of the court’s determination in Bryant v. County of Cumberland, 472 N.J. Super. 626 (App. Div. 2022). Memo
4. Uniform Electronic Estate Planning Documents Act – 2022 – Consideration of a Memorandum reviewing the Uniform Electronic Estate Planning Documents Act, promulgated by the Uniform Law Commission in 2022, and comparing it with the corresponding New Jersey statutes in this area of the law. Memo
5. Earn Your Way Out Act – Imposition of Parole Board Conditions on Parolees – Consideration of a Memorandum proposing a project to consider whether the Parole Act (N.J.S. 30:4-123.55d and N.J.S. 30:4-123.59) would benefit from a modification consistent with the determination of the New Jersey Supreme Court in Williams vs. New Jersey State Parole Board, 255 N.J. 36 (2023) with regard to mandating participation in a Residential Treatment Program for individuals paroled through the Earn Your Way Out Act.
